Wallasea Island is situated on the East coast of Essex and adjoins the Crouch and Roach estuaries. These estuaries have both Special Protection Area (SPA) and Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) status. The Wallasea Wetlands Scheme is the largest reclamation and wildlife project in Europe.

Essex Marina was one of the first marinas in the UK to have a floating pontoon system in the late 1950's and is the base for the ferry to nearby Burnham-on-Crouch.

Provided that easterly winds are not wreaking havoc to the sea state, Reel Estate will depart from Lowestoft and turn south westerly towards the popular seaside town of Southend.
Nick will pass places such as Aldeburgh, Felixstowe, Harwich and Clacton on Sea whilst heading towards the Crouch estuary and the stopover point at Wallasea Island
