Though no longer a substantial fishing port, Stonehaven retains much of historic interest with the ancient Tollbooth close by the harbour and the majestic fourteenth century fortress of Dunottar on the cliff tops to the south of the town

There is no longer a Fish Market at Stonehaven it is now more of a recreational harbour but it is still used by several fishing boats in the 50-foot class.

Leaving Banff, Nick will head once more into the vagaries of the North Sea. Passing Fraserburgh, the compass will swing to the south as he rounds Ratray Head. Maintaining a southerly heading,
with Peterhead and Aberdeen to starboard, Nick’s arrival into the charming town of Stonehaven will, no doubt, be toasted with a wee dram whilst Reel Estate enjoys a refill of Scottish diesel.
