Portsmouth is the UK's premier waterfront destination combining stunning views across the Solent and centuries of history.

A significant naval port for centuries, Portsmouth is home to the world's oldest dry dock still in use and many famous ships, including Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. Portsmouth has declined as a military port in recent years but remains a major dockyard and base for the Royal Navy.

Dover is the most south easterly destination on the trip and will herald the compass turning from south west to west. Passing Folkestone and Hythe the boat will continue around Dungeness and
onwards to Beachy Head. An additional stopover in Brighton is a possibility if the weather picks up, otherwise turning round Selsey Bill will see Portsmouth within easy reach.
