Lowestoft, the most easterly town in Britain is in Suffolk on what is known as the Sunrise Coast, famed for its peaceful countryside and award winning beaches.

The town is divided in two by Lake Lothing and has two piers. In the early part of the 20th century, the Claremont Pier was used as an embarkation point for the steamships that operated between London to the south and Great Yarmouth to the north.

Leaving Grimsby will see the start of the next long leg to Lowestoft, anticipated to be around 105 miles. It will be necessary to traverse The Wash - which can create some big seas - and then
on to Norfolk, looking out for the offshore windfarm off Great Yarmouth. The Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yachting Club will provide welcome shelter - especially if it’s been blowing an easterly!
